PAT Testing Cornwall - Water Fire Extinguisher Image

Water fire extinguishers are still one of the most useful and cost effective of all available fire extinguishers. It is limited in it’s use as it can only be used on Class A materials, but, as Class A materials (wood, paper, textiles) are by far the most common fuel source it is no surprise that the Water fire extinguisher is so widely chosen.

Water Additive Extinguishers are also available containing a powerful ‘EcoSpray’ additive – fluoro free to protect the environment.  The high performance of these units makes them ideal for environments where manual handling restrictions apply.

PAT Testing Cornwall - Foam Fire extinguisher ImageFoam fire extinguishers are more expensive than water, but more versatile. Used for Classes A & B fires. Foam spray fire extinguishers are not recommended for fires involving electricity, but are safer than water if inadvertently sprayed onto live electrical apparatus.

PAT Testing Cornwall - Wet Chemical Fire extinguisher ImageWet chemical fire extinguishers are ideal for class F fires, involving cooking oils and fats, such as lard, olive oil, sunflower oil, maize oil and butter. A requirement for commercial kitchens using deep fat fryers. An added benefit is that it is also suitable for freely burning materials (class A) such as wood, paper and fabrics.
