Fire & PAT Testing Services Cornwall can provide your business with fire extinguishers (EN3 standard) to cover all fire risks:
Water fire extinguishers are still one of the most useful and cost effective of all available fire extinguishers. It is limited in it’s use as it can only be used on Class A materials, but, as Class A materials (wood, paper, textiles) are by far the most common fuel source it is no surprise that the Water fire extinguisher is so widely chosen.
Water Additive Extinguishers are also available containing a powerful ‘EcoSpray’ additive – fluoro free to protect the environment. The high performance of these units makes them ideal for environments where manual handling restrictions apply.
Foam fire extinguishers are more expensive than water, but more versatile. Used for Classes A & B fires. Foam spray fire extinguishers are not recommended for fires involving electricity, but are safer than water if inadvertently sprayed onto live electrical apparatus.
Wet chemical fire extinguishers are ideal for class F fires, involving cooking oils and fats, such as lard, olive oil, sunflower oil, maize oil and butter. A requirement for commercial kitchens using deep fat fryers. An added benefit is that it is also suitable for freely burning materials (class A) such as wood, paper and fabrics.
ABC Powder fire extinguishers are a highly versatile Class A, B & C fire-fighting medium suitable for most risks, including dealing with electrical hazards, flammable liquids and gases. It is an ideal choice for industrial premises but now not recommended for domestic/office purposes since changes in British Standards. Highly effective against petrol and volatile liquids they are perfect for use in vehicles and boats.
CO2 extinguishers are suitable for electrical equipment, Class B fires and is recognised for its non-damaging highly effective performance and cleanliness. Because the gas is harmless to delicate equipment and materials, it is ideal for modern office environments, all electrical risks and where oils, spirits, solvents and waxes are in use.
Polished fire extinguishers for stylish applications are also available.
Class A: Solids such as paper, wood, plastic etc
Class B: Flammable liquids such as paraffin, petrol, oil etc
Class C: Gases such as propane, butane, methane etc
Class D: Metals such as aluminium, magnesium, titanium etc
Class E: Fires involving electrical apparatus
Class F: Cooking oil and fat etc
